  • Oligarchy in world democracy- Will Trump win the noble peace prize?

It has been exactly a month since Donald Trump assumed office as the 47th president of the United States of America. Instantly, I was reminded of a line from Ye’s song.

“No one man should have all that power”

    -ye as in Kanye West

The first 30 days at the president’s desk has been nothing but Fully In Action (F.I.A) to say the least. It is like Trump choose to quantum travel in space-time having almost every media outlet report him day and night.

During his 2024 campaign, he seasoned himself as a better candidate with his tagline Make America Great Again (MAGA). He became more approachable to the people worldwide by offering to appear on Joe Rogan’s Podcast unscripted, interacted with people at local burger outlets´, acknowledged the profitable Indian diaspora and thumped his fist high merely escaping a near catastrophic assassination attempt. It is interesting to note that, Trump won the election with a majority and for the first time in the history of modern America, there was a significant shift with the black american community votes doubling for the republican side since 2020. Additionally, the pent up frustration among the masses towards Joe Biden sleep walking his four-year presidency and an unfit political candidate in Kamala Harris aided the historic victory.

However, a closer look at the inaugural ceremony screams volumes about what one could expect from Trump in his second term at the Oval office. He wanted to make a daring, bold show on the geo political stage to his voters and non-voters alike and he delivered it. The office was packed with the CEO’s of the tech & business world including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Sundar Pichai, Tim Cook, Shou Zi Chew, Sam Altman, Rupert Murdoch and Dana White. Also, far right world leader representatives including Argentina’s Javier Melei, Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, China’s Han Zeng and India’s S.Jaishankar graced the occasion.

But within a month on the hot seat , Trump has managed to influence and agitate world politics both directly and indirectly. For his indirect missions on the global front, he relies exclusively on Tesla’s Elon Musk, his vice-president JD Vance, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman and as odd and wierd as it sounds, Russia’s Vladimir Putin for some reason. And his press seceratary Karoline Leavitt fiercely handles his internal affairs.

” We are gonna drill baby drill”

    -Donald Trump

Trump’s loud ambitions to make Canada as USA’s 51st state, buy Greenland, land grab the Gaza strip and recently betray Ukraine have all received stark critisicm albeit with no one to thwart him. As for his MAGA plan, Trump threats to impose differential tarrifs for import and export from and to all countries around the world posing a trade war and inflation globally with the sole purpose to make the US Dollar powerful. Additionally, USA’s withdrawal from WHO, the Paris agreement, cancelling USAID citing wasteful spending and fighting a non-existent climate change has left the country now with more money than ever. And with his agenda to drill baby drill, America wishes to become indepedant for its oil demands!

As if this wasn’t enough action, Trump eyes to consolidate America as the greatest country ever for the coming era and not in a good way. He actively attacks the ever crumbling EU where it hurts the most, paticularly aiming at Germany (deserves a seperate blog post) by fueling USA’s influence on migration politics. With the entire tech empire in his hand, Trump is preparing the for an unprepared Cyber war against the world.

Despite these ramifications, Trump does have a hapenning stature and this is something where the other politicians of the western world frail in comparison. None of the current politicians holding office have the grit to actively participate or even initate the daring negotiations that Trump has to offer. It is indeed important to remember that he is a business tycoon and shall go to any extent to put america’s interest first.

Should Trump somehow bring an end to the ongoing wars in the middle and far east, it wouldn’t be surprising if he be considered for the noble peace prize. Only time will tell. But who really gets to profit out of all this? Can Trump’s oligarchy and america’s democracy go hand in hand? Let’s wait and see.
